Fluorite, Stibiconite, Calcite
Dugupi-Maanshan Sb deposit, Niujie, Weishan County, Dali Prefecture, Yunnan Province, China
Miniature3.5x3x2.5cm30g
Dark purple fluorite with partial, copper colored to brown coating. The somewhat columnar structure of the specimen represents a fluorite perimorph after stibnite, with remnants sometimes still visible as a single white stibiconite pseudomorph in the center of the fluorite/calcite column. Unilateral overgrowth covers most of the fluorite, consisting of brown coated calcite xls in various stages of corrosion, partially recrystallized and often overgrown by other, yet unidentified and often fluorescent minerals. A colorful and quite unique combination!

Fluorite, Calcite, Stibiconite
Dugupi-Maanshan Sb deposit, Niujie, Weishan County, Dali Prefecture, Yunnan Province, China
Small Cabinet9x5.5x4.5cm175g
Light purple phosphorescent fluorite! Columnar structures represent perimorphs after stibnite, which completely vanished into secondary antimony minerals that are also present on this specimen. Not analyzed and preliminarily named here "stibiconite", there are strong hints that rarer secondary Sb-minerals, such as coquandite are present. Opaque cloudy to white areas, usually along the edges of the otherwise transparent fluorite xls may in fact be inclusions related to antimony content, as the "whitest" fluorite xls occur in immediate vicinity of amorphous secondary Sb-minerals. The inclusions, (which often look like edge damages!) cause a green shortwave fluorescence with noticeable phosphorescence in the otherwise blue fluorescent fluorite. The unilateral overgrowth on the fluorite column consists mainly of light brown, corroded calcite scalenohedrons, aragonite (bright white balls) gypsum and secondary antimony minerals. Found 2009.

Purple fluorite with white phantoms and iridescent coating. Columnar structures represent perimorphs after stibnite, which completely vanished into bright white secondary antimony minerals that are present on this specimen as well. Not analyzed and preliminarily named here "stibiconite", there are strong hints that rarer secondary Sb-minerals, such as coquandite are present. Opaque white areas on the fluorite lining the stibiconite pockets may in fact be inclusions related to antimony content, as the "whitest" fluorite xls occur in immediate vicinity of the Sb-minerals. Associated by orange to light brown scalenohedral calcite.

Fluorite, Calcite, Stibiconite
Dugupi-Maanshan Sb deposit, Niujie, Weishan County, Dali Prefecture, Yunnan Province, China
Miniature4x3x3cm25g
Golden iridescent fluorite! The iridescence is caused by a thin layer of a surface mineral, the fluorite itself is light purple. The columnar structure of the aggregates represents a perimorph after stibnite that completely vanished into secondary, usually pure white to pink antimony minerals. Not analyzed and preliminarily named here "stibiconite", there are strong hints that rarer secondary Sb-minerals are present, such as coquandite. Opaque white areas at the inside of the columns may in fact be inclusions related to antimony content, as the "whitest" fluorite xls occur in immediate vicinity of amorphous secondary Sb-minerals. The unilateral overgrowth on the fluorite column consists mainly of light brown, corroded calcite scalenohedrons, aragonite and secondary antimony minerals. New find of 2009.

Fluorite, Calcite, Stibiconite
Dugupi-Maanshan Sb deposit, Niujie, Weishan County, Dali Prefecture, Yunnan Province, China
Small Cabinet8x7.5x5cm280g
Light purple fluorite with yellow coating of varying iridescence! The columnar structure of the aggregates represents a perimorph after stibnite that completely vanished into secondary antimony minerals which are also present on this specimen. Not analyzed and preliminarily named here "stibiconite", there are strong hints that rarer secondary Sb-minerals are present, such as coquandite. Opaque white areas, usually along the edges of the otherwise transparent fluorite xls may in fact be inclusions related to antimony content, as the "whitest" fluorite xls occur in immediate vicinity of amorphous secondary Sb-minerals. The inclusions, (which often look like edge damages!) cause a green shortwave fluorescence with noticeable phosphorescence in the otherwise blue fluorescent fluorite. Yellow effects are caused by whitish fluorescence shining through the yellow surface coating. The unilateral overgrowth on the fluorite column consists mainly of light brown, corroded calcite scalenohedrons, aragonite (bright white balls) and secondary antimony minerals. Found 2009.
fluorescent LW yellow SW greenish white, also quite phosphorescent
