Peculiar red and black "mushroom" tourmaline. Part of the tourmaline is covered by a thin crust of another mineral, probably albite, causing the red tourmaline to appear pink. The cooking oil the specimen was soaked in to enhance the color has been removed!

The specimen is loaded with purplish red gem spinel xls up to 4mm. Note also the honey-colored chondrodite with occasional crystal faces! The color contrast of red and yellow before a light blue background is still present under LW UV when at least three minerals show differently colored fluorescence.
